Presentation at international conference: ‘Algorithmic governance and social vulnerability: a value analysis of equality and trust.’

Antonia Stanojević gave a presentation at Digital Society, an international conference in Utrecht. The presentation discussed the risks of implementing emerging digital technologies, particularly algorithmic governance, in public administration. It highlighted how these systems, intended to increase efficiency, often result in mistakes and political scandals, especially when they disproportionately affect socially vulnerable citizens. In particular, algorithmic governance can exacerbate existing inequalities and erode public trust. Building on the understanding of algorithmic governance as socio-technical experimentation, the presentation concluded with a policy recommendation against such experimentation targeting vulnerable groups.
